The community responded with a beautiful showing of love and respect for the two Bristol police officers killed in the line of duty. The lines were miles long and police cruisers from every corner of the state participated in the service.
In addition, thousands of people came out on the street to honor these brave men.
Tunnel to Towers Foundation founder and CEO, Frank Siller, called Laura DeMonte, wife of
fallen Bristol Police Sgt. (Lt.) Dustin DeMonte, to let her know that the family’s home mortgage will be paid in full.
In addition to his wife, Sgt. DeMonte leaves two young children and a new baby coming soon.
Frank Siller and Lauren DeMonte spoke at length for about an hour during their phone call, and it’s nice to know something good has come out of something so horrible.

Funeral services for Sgt. (Lt.) DeMonte and Officer (Sgt.) Alex Hamzy were held at Pratt &
Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on Friday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.

Two fundraisers have been organized to support the families of Lt. DeMonte and Sgt.
Hamzy: One is FundtheFirst.com. As of Thursday, October 20, $373,830 has been raised toward a goal of $400,000.

On Wednesday October 12, Sgt. DeMonte and Officer Hamzy, assigned to the Patrol
Division, were on duty when they were shot and killed responding to a domestic disturbance call in Bristol by a suspect lying in wait.
Sgt. DeMonte was a 10-year veteran of the Bristol Police Department. Officer Hamzy wasan 8-year veteran of the department

both men as follows:
Sgt. DeMonte has been posthumously promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Officer Hamzy has been posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant.
